WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will be based in one of our North American, Latin American, or European offices as a part of our Global Learning Journeys team.
In this role you will hold a continually evolving picture of our learners’ needs, ‘health’, and performance that you develop in partnership with learners themselves, talent, & professional development Leaders, and firm leadership.
You will closely collaborate with our broader firm learning team. including fellow journey managers; learning delivery specialists, and learning design experts. You will also have frequent interaction with firm partners, regional and practice learning colleagues, and special initiative leaders. In this role you will be function as a performance consultant that drives Learning and Development (L&D) for team leader colleagues at McKinsey. The learners supported by the Manager of Learning consist of thousands of colleagues spanning geographies and representing a wide range of paths and roles, from integrative consultants, to experts, to solutions managers, to data scientists and technologists.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will shape, design, and manage learning programs, solutions, and experiences that support manager-level client service professional leadership development and professional growth.
In this context, you will apply and build skills in the areas of learning needs analysis; learning design; project management; and change management. At the same time, you will have an opportunity to develop L&D innovations with applicability across all of learning, with a focus on to how we provide more tailored learning, apprenticeship, and support for colleagues “in the workflow” and in the moment of need.
You will build an understanding of the colleagues you support—who they are and what they need. You will build a perspective on what capabilities learners require the most help developing, as well as how learning can best support them from a connectivity, career reflection, celebration, and ‘culture transmission’ standpoint.
You will ensure our learning journeys & curricula align with the firm’s strategic priorities and people strategy. This is especially pivotal given the rapid diversification of roles at the Firm; the new ways in which we are working together and serving clients; and the new capabilities needed to achieve impact on teams.
You will create, design, and launch innovative learning solutions, including virtual learning, digital learning, performance support, and coaching solutions. You will be asked to steer major design efforts, teaming with our Design and Delivery Centers of Excellence. You will co-lead the planning, communications, and change management required for effective implementation of new solutions.
You will monitor and measure overall impact of learning across the dimensions or reach, relevance, and impact. You will manage select programs and offerings to ensure quality of experience, transference of learning and behavior change, post-program learning reinforcement, faculty performance and health, and efficiency.
- University degree and excellent academic record
- Experience in Learning & Development (including instructional design, performance consulting, facilitation, or broader L&D leadership) preferred
- Passion for learning, capability building or broader people development
- Leadership toolkit basics, including problem-solving fundamentals (structuring, synthesis), project management, and communications skills
- Confidence and peer-like senior stakeholder skills—in particular, experience acting as a thought partner to senior leadership
